UMassFive is always finding new ways to be more involved in the greater Springfield community, home to our Mercy Medical Center branch.
Newsletter 2022 V3 Article - UMassFive in Hampden County
So far in 2022 we are proud to have supported and sponsored many events including the Unity Ball by Christina’s House, Juneteenth Jubilee, Dress for Success, Harambee, The Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, and the Springfield Puerto Rican Parade.
In addition to participating in these great events, we wanted to show our appreciation for important groups in the community. To support healthcare workers, we bought lunch for nurses during National Nurses Week for nurses at Sister Caritas Cancer Center and Mercy’s Wound Clinic, as well as the Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center.
In support of veterans, we sponsored a VA night at the Valley Blue Sox, which was well attended by many veterans who hadn’t had much opportunity to get out to events due to the pandemic. In an effort to support area families, we took part in a major group donation to Springfield’s South End Community Center, which provides family-friendly programming to the community.
Finally, in support of spreading the word about UMassFive and our mission to make a positive difference in members’ financial lives, we began appearing in a segment on the Lewis and Morrow Financial Hour. The radio show, broadcast on WTCC at Springfield Technical Community College, is designed to educate the community on financial news, information, products, and services. Segments included discussions about Springfield Community Involvement, what a credit union is, and the financial wellness resources provided by UMassFive.
