UMassFive teamed up with UMass Athletics to once again shine a spotlight on women in sports in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). Leading up to the February 19 face-off against rival Davidson Wildcats, UMassFive sponsored a social media contest encouraging families to share photos of their young athletes for the chance to win $500 and admission to the game. Meanwhile, the UMass Minutewomen Basketball team had already boasted an impressive 11 game winning streak that was sure to inspire local youth female players and participants across all sports.

During the NGWSD game, UMassFive Executive Vice President and COO Lauren Duffy was able to present the prize to winner Quynh, who competes as a figure skater and was selected out of nearly 450 athletes. Following another win for the Minutewomen, youth 12 years and under were invited to participate in a free clinic where they could meet and learn from the players.
