This fall, UMassFive employees will once again be participating in two important local fundraisers: Will Bike 4 Food and the UMass Cancer Walk and Run.

Each year, our employees band together as Team UMassFive, raising funds for these events from friends, family, Credit Union members, and some Credit Union vendors. You may even see fundraisers going on in our branches, where employees have displayed their creativity in the past by designing raffle baskets and holding art sales, bake sales, and so much more.

Will Bike 4 Food is a bicycling event that benefits The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, an organization that annually distributes nearly 12.3 million meals throughout Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. Participants in Will Bike 4 Food raise funds to support their participation, cycling either 10, 25, 50, or 100 mile courses. For every $1 that is collected, The Food Bank can provide four meals to neighbors in need. The ride will take place on Sunday, September 24, kicking off in Hatfield. Cheer on team UMassFive as they cycle for the cause!

We will also be raising funds and participating in the UMass Cancer Walk and Run, an event that benefits the UMass Cancer Center in Worcester. This important annual event supports nearly a third of the funds allocated to clinical trials and research at the Cancer Center. Team UMassFive has been a top fundraising team for the Cancer Walk, raising $173,000 in over more than 20 years of participation. The Cancer Walk will also take place on Sunday, September 24th, at Polar Park in Worcester.

This year, we are dedicating our fundraising efforts to the memory of a beloved, longtime UMassFive employee and former colleague, Pauline Saulmon, who recently passed away from breast cancer. Pauline started as a receptionist in our Hadley branch in 2005, later moving to the Northampton branch where she served for over a decade. When she retired on her 70th birthday in 2019, she was helping members in our Contact Center. Pauline was an amazing asset to UMassFive, a friend to so many, and she is greatly missed.

Honor Pauline, support UMassFive, and help fund local cancer clinical trials, research, and care.
